Dead Man's Dice ... avast there ye swabs, it's a pirates' dice game.

Games Above Board publishes the 2 to 6-player game.
Channel Craft publishes a 2-player version with red and black dice.

Pirates take turns rolling dice to build point-scoring piles o' treasure by matching like numbers, numbers in succession or sums of 7.

Plundering the opponent's dice is not only permitted but strongly advised.

Pillaging is not recommended - you have been warned!

Beware the Jolly Roger … double your points and seal victory or get caught holding Dead Man's Dice and be keelhauled to subtract 7 points.

Sending your opponent to Davy Jones' Locker by firing a broadside is one way to sink your opponent but it will cost you in doubloons.

Played round by round - the first to score a total of 100 doubloons (points) wins.

    Dead Man’s Dice™

    A 2-player game example …

Jack and Bart start with 1 Jolly Roger and 2 regular dice each and both roll any 1 die
Unless they both roll the same number (then they roll again), both dice are left on the table and the player with the lower number rolls any 2nd die
(e.g. Jack rolled a 4 and Bart rolled a 2 - neither rolled their Jolly Roger die)

As Bart has the lower number, he rolls ... a 1 with his 2nd (not the J.R.) die and, as it does not meet any of the 3 "pile-up" Criteria, he takes it back leaving his 1st die (2) on the table along with Jack's 1st die (4)

Jack rolls a 2nd die (his J.R.) ~ the skull & crossbones comes up and he piles it up on his 4
Why? Because it's the J.R. and may be placed on his pile regardless of the number
        What spot is it? 1
How many points is it worth? 7
Jack invokes Criteria 2, plunders Bart's 2 and piles it up on top of his J.R. (which is on top of his 4) and his turn is over

    Jack now has 3 dice piled up: 4 + J.R. + 2 with 1 die in hand
Bart has 2 dice (1 of which is the J.R.) in hand with none on the table and it's his turn
Bart rolls a 5, invokes Criteria 3 and plunders the 2 on the top of Jack's pile and his turn is over
Why? Only a top die may be plundered and a J.R. (which is now on top of Jack's pile) may not be plundered

Jack rolls a 3 with his 3rd die and, as it does not meet any of the 3 Criteria, he takes it back

Bart rolls a 3rd die (his J.R.) ~ a 2 comes up and he piles it up on his 2
Why? It matches (Criteria 1 ~ which may not be invoked when plundering)
The round is now over as Bart's pistol is empty ~ i.e. he has no more dice to play ~ despite
that Jack’s 3rd die is as yet un-played.

    And the score is?

    Jack : 22 ( 4 + J.R. = 11 x 2 - Why? J.R. is on top) ~

    Bart : 9 ( 5 + 2 + 2 )
